Charities Parliament is a Faithworks initiative located at the Oasis centre that encourages debate and inspires innovation. Its aims are:
1. To give voice to faith based organisations, the third sector and community activists
2. To encourage and inspire political engagement
3. To engage government with creative and innovative input from the grassroots
The Charities Parliament has hosted a number of highly successful events looking at important societal issues, especially as they impact voluntary and faith groups, with various political leaders and opinion formers including, amongst others, Tony Blair, David Cameron, William Hague, Andy Duncan the CEO of Channel 4, Antonio Maria Costa (Director of United Nations Office of Drugs & Crime), Polly Toynbee, Cherie Blair (in her role as a Women’s Rights activist), Jim Knight the Schools Minister, Iain Duncan Smith on poverty and social policy, Andy Reed, Alistair Burt, Rt Rev Michael Nazir-Ali (Bishop of Rochester) and Ruth Gledhill (Religion Correspondent for The Times).
CHARITIES PARLIAMENT WILL SHORTLY BECOME KNOWN AS OASIS CHARITIES PARLIAMENT
AND WILL BE GETTING A WHOLE NEW LOGO AND LOOK…..
So why the change?
Well Charities Parliament started life as a project initiated by Oasis and has continued to be administered by the parent charity of Oasis.
Oasis has recently gone through a process of integration, integrating and co-ordinating its various departments and subsidiaries, to more effectively deliver its vision for the UK and internationally.
A vision for community – for places where everyone is included, making a contribution and reaching their God-given potential. As part of this integration process, the brand identities of some of the projects and charities which are part of the Oasis family are being refreshed or realigned.
We believe the new look and name will better represent who we are and the work we do, as we remain committed to inspiring community innovation and encouraging debate between civil society and government.
